Acoustic Cafe 2008

Picture_029.jpg

The 2nd Annual Acoustic Café held on February 23, 2008 was a hit once again. LMYC hosted a large crowd of our own members and guests from Grosse Isle Yacht Club, Windsor Yacht Club, Southport Sail Club, and Cedar Island Yacht Club. For the price of a dish to pass, everyone was entertained by the Eccentric Band and friends, including Chuck Beaumont, and Linda Girard of Sky Blue Dancer, playing their original music. Wayne Durant, formerly of Tommy J and the Nighthawks joined in the fun as well. Great food, friends and live music, what else would you rather do on a Saturday night??

Thanks to Keith Rowland and Celine Durant for the photos.

Awards Banquet 2007

P1010612.JPG

The Annual Awards Banquet is a great way to end the racing season and is the largest social function of LMYC. The race and cruising awards are all presented here as well as some "special" presentations that are made to a select few each year

Past Award Banquets

P1010159.JPG

Striped cows, Ratings Fairies, Moses, & Lederhosen are just some of the strange happenings of our annual awards festivities. B&G Entertainment, the mysterious production company that puts it all together, has been caught on film and CD! (turn on your speakers and enjoy!) A foggy night in a backwoods cabin (with indoor plumbing) on the outskirts of Annapolis in 2005, great minds came together and wrote this song. You might even know the rest of the words!
See the faces behind the productions working at an undisclosed studio location to finalize the project. A special thanks to Dr. Evil & Mini Me, AKA, Bob and George...or is it George and Bob?? In any case, thank you for investing so much of your time and creativity to make this event an enjoyable one.
Feel free to send more pics if you have them.

Memories of Pelee Island

John_003.jpg

From modest beginnings and just a few boats back in 1994, the Pelee Island Regatta has grown into one our our Clubs largest sailing events of the season. While it is called a Regatta, and we do have a racing class, most entries sign up for the Cruising class. In any case, it is a great way to spend a hot summer weekend on your boat. The afterglow party, with dinner and live music is now held on the grounds of the Anchor and Wheel Inn including transportation. Reserve dockage at Scudder is provided for all entries.

Pelee Island 2008

Summer08_089.jpg

This Race and Cruise to Pelee Island is scheduled for July and provides reserve dockage for all entries as well as an afterglow theme party at the Anchor and Wheel Inn festival grounds for all Sailors and Landlubbers alike. There is a cruising category for those who choose not to race there. The official start areas are from Cedar Island Yacht Club as well as the main start off of Bar Point. This race/cruise, is now sponsored by Pussers Rum, and has become one of the largest unofficial regattas in Southwestern Ontario with over 50 entries in 2007 and many people coming by ferry just to join the party on the island.

Port to Port 2007

IMG_3129.jpg

The Port To Port regatta is a international race downriver from Lasalle Mariners Yacht Club to our sister club, Grosse Isle Yacht Club USA that has become a tradition with the river sailors. It is held every June. With many shoals, island, mud flats, dikes, freighters and other river traffic, it can be a quite an interesting trip. No worries however, our American hosts make sure that we are well taken care of at GIYC with more than enough hospitality to keep you coming back year after year.
